Your truck is and will be fast if you run the EDGE with Attitiude, I will warn you about the transmission again! You will be posting soon and it will be like this "Looking for a bulletproof tranny"
Hey Fastest1......talk to me let me know if there is more I can do besides stacking....I am waiting for delivery of my Edge w/ Attiude......beging to wonder if this was not the way to go....thanks....would the SCT module not be as bad on my tranny.....new guy here ... in your opinion what direction should I go

I should have prefaced it with, if you drive in level 5 (floored at every opportunity) all the time like I did, you will have tranny problems. I am not sure of the power delivery of the others (SCT, SCMT, Diablo, Etc.) I will stack mine when the tranny is fixed again. I want to get rid of the speed limiter and get tranny control. I do believe the slip in between 3-4 is the culprit, just too much torque at once for the torque converter to hold back. Then all the clutch fibers in the TC get sent thru the transmission IMO. The Edge does have extreme pull, if you try it you will definitely want to keep it. Like when I tried level 5 the first time, I just couldnt go back.
If you do try level or any level above 2, I would make sure you let the transmission readapt for at least a couple of hundred miles. I didnt and it could be part of the problem. If you try level 5, Heroin would be an easier addiction to kick LOL. You will like it.
Hey Fastest1......could you help me once again....when you said the tranny needs to Readapt...is this after I pic a setting..say setting 3 what do I need to do....thanks....got my Edge w/ Attitude today can't wait to install...thanks....if any body else has any inpute join in...lets talk
Great Big P, Upon original installation of the Edge unit the batteries will have to be disconnected. It is when you reconnect them that causes the relearn mode, once relearned you can change settings on the fly with no problems. They tell you to drive it very civilized in each setting starting on level 1 for 100 miles or so each. You can still enjoy short bursts when new but I would try to most of it on the highway after it has shifted into the highest gear. It is impressive even at 60 or higher when you step on it. If you taste level 5 right after installation, it will be hard to obey above instructions LOL. You will never let a car get you at a light!
I have the Edge with an auto tranny and it works great. You just have to be responsible with it. If you race it constantly like a zit faced high school kid, you will mess up your truck. You set it to defuel at all levels and it shifts fine. You can play with it once in a while, but you gotta remember to be responsible. The reason people have tranny problems with the autos, is because they hammer it constantly and do stuff like setting it on level 5 all the time. Level 5 is for occasional fun...not for driving all the time. There are settings on there like "Drive" hint hint. And "Tow" as worded...then there are settings like "Race" hmmm I wonder what that means? And then level 5 is "Extreme"...hmmm,, if I leave it here...what will happen? errrr...duh?
Good luck on your research.

The reason I no longer use my Edge is the fact that there are plenty of other devices that can SAFELY be left in "Race" mode, as you call it. This is my opinion from my expierences, but the fuel boxes are a ticking time bomb if the transmission issues are not properly addressed with tuning, whether you run it in "Race" mode and are responsible, or not.

Want to sell it...say $100 bucks? I'll send you a check right now for it, if you don't use it anymore and want to sell before it "explodes".
by the way..."Race" mode is an actual mode on the control unit in the cab. Maybe you have the old unit? I wonder if you guys with the tranny problems are using some kind of older unit that has no defueling adjustment for the torque converter and thus the tranny problems? hmmm

Mine does not have "Race" mode, however it does defuel on shifts. It is presently in my truck set on 0 (Stock) mode for gauges, and peak EGT limiting.
As for the transmission, the factory adaptation parameters will only let the transmission "learn" to a certain extent- past that, additional torque WILL (hence I said will, not might) slip the clutch packs. Without either a 3-port in-line module, or a full blown flashing device (SCMT, SCT, not Predator) there is no way to properly address this, despite whatever marketing claims that Edge, Banks, Quad, ect may throw at you. I have personally seen many trucks, ones that are driven hard and ones that are driven easy, with fuel boxes, come in with severely maimed transmissions. I personally destroyed mine with the Edge box in 2,000 miles- I have about 5500 now with SCT tuning (making more power than the Edge) and has NO slipping shifts and no internal problems whatsoever.
