I was wondering if you have to have a blow through carb to run a turbo. I was thinking about putting a turbo on my 460 with about 7lbs of boost, and can get the turbo for cheap, but I didn't want to have to buy a new carb. I have heard people talking about converting Holley carbs to blow through but not Edelbrocks, can you do it? Thanks.
I remember that there are special floats that have to be used in a blow through setup. Hollow floats will collapse. I'm not sure about the rest of the mods needed.
You don't have to set your system up as a blow-through. You can set it up to draw the air through the carb...oddly enough called a draw-through set up. It's not as common but it does have its advantages. You don't have to modify the carb and you don't need a blow-off valve. Check out this site for tons of info. www.turbomustangs.com/forums
They have a carburated turbo forum and a junkyard turbo forum. Both have stickys on how to modify a Holley and Edelbrock for blow-through. Read the stickys in the forums before you post...they get kind of uptight on that site if you ask questions that are already answered.
