I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the delayed power for the radio and windows. Ya know, when you remove the key you can still play the radio or put up a window until the door is opened. Thanks!
You know, I really do not understand how this option works or what it's purpose is. I notice the same thing, when you turn the key off and remove it you still get a few seconds of radio and chime.
Have you never turned off your (older) vehicle and then realized there was a window still down, so you had to put the key back in and turn it on to put the window up? It's just a convenience thing. The only way I know of to turn it off is to open a door (or wait a bunch of minutes). What's the situation where that's a problem?
This is the only vehicle I have had that has this feature, and while it really isn't an issue...I had hoped there was a way to turn it off. If my '03 Cobra has this feature, I don't even know it.
I have a remote start-alarm installed, and if you use the remote start to start and then shut down...the delayed accessory feature is again activated..and stays on until it times out or you open a door. I noticed that at night after a remote start-stop procedure, the radio and window switches stay lit. As I said...I know they will time out, but wondered if there was a way to shut it off.
You are right with your remote start comment. I have noticed this also. While it is not a problem for me I can see how it could be annoying. A couple of times my remote start timed out and I heard voices outsdie my bedroom window (where the Ex was parked). It was my kids "Dora" dvd still playing at a loud level inside the truck!
And yes it does take several minutes (don't know how many) before it shuts off. But once again it is no big deal for me. I actually like the feature at times.

Matt-
I meant to post this last time we talked about this. I spoke to an installer while I was in San Diego about this and he said he's had this issue with other Ford's. What he did was used the alarm wire that would normally be used to re-arm a factory system to "pulse" the drivers door pin when the R/S shuts down to make the truck believe that the door had been opened. I'm not exactly sure how he did it, but a good installer should know. I hope this helps.
I have a '99 Windstar that has the delay for windows and stereo, it shuts off at 10 minutes.
My 2000 X has delay for the windows but not for the stereo. I'm not sure if it has always been this way or if it broke. I wish it worked for the stereo.
Checked mine, here is what I found. When you turn the key off with doors shut you get about 1 to 2 seconds before the power turns off. If you turn the key off and open the door quickly/at the same time you get 2 to 3 seconds before the power turns off. That is it, guess mine is not working properly; just like my inability to program additional key fobs. Guess my G.E.M. is not working correctly.
with my 2003 ex., when I turn the key off the radio stays on and the dome light comes on. Any clue if the dome light feature can be turned off? it goes out when you open the door.
