Hey guys......
I have an aftermarket intake and I have been blessed with the howling intake syndrome. I have re-installed the little black box that goes to the IAC(I think) and it has cured the problem, but now I had to use a heater hose with a lot of bends in order to get it to the port on the intake pipe ( which is behind the air filter) so I am wondering if the bends effect the performance of the truck. I have noticed that my exhaust seems a tad quiter. So I think I can drill a small hole on the rubber coupling that connects my intake to the T.B, so that would eliminate the hose and make a short trip for the air to get to the IAC. I am wondering how much does the air going into the IAC contribute to the truck besides idling. (Sorry I am long-winded).
Any help would be great!!!
It mostly controls the idle so if it idles ok with the a/c on and stuff then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Is it 5/8" heater hose? You might get a couple of 5.0 bypass hoses for the waterpump to intake manifold, they have 90 deg. bends formed in them to eliminate the kinks.
either that or 3/8...I am not sure...but I think 3/8. So when driving down the road the engine gets all of its air from the intake & when it goes into idling it gets it from the the other. Thanks I'll check on the 90 degree bends
My after market intake had both 3/4 and 5/8 hoses. I ended up getting a bypass hose like Jimmy said. I think I used one with a 45* bend in it. The guy at the parts store let me go behind the counter to look at them. Might pick a few and see what the price is. The first one we pulled was like 17 bucs. I ended up finding an $7 dollar one.
