[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-14-03 AT 08:42 PM (EST)]Howdy! I got an 84 F-150 Single Cab, 4X2, 300 I-6 in there, Can anyone give me some help on why my whole dash is really, really dim (and yes, Chevy owners, the brightness IS turned all the way up..)
Any thing you can suggest to replace/adjust/hit with a stick??
Check the voltage between the LB/R wire and ground, and between one of the dash illumination ground wires and ground. The first should be about the same as your battery voltage, and the second should be zero.
If there's 12V across the bulbs & they're still dim, then it's either the bulbs, or the filters that cover them have fogged with age. I removed mine years ago because of that and now my cluster looks kinda reddish/yellowish, but it matches the radio & EQ.
While you have things apart, pull EVERY cluster bulb and clean it's contacts, and the printed circut where they make contact, this made a large difference in the brightness of the lights in my truck, and, alsi, there different wattages of bulbs avalable to fit the sockets... I forget the # of the bright ones, 194 maybe...

I did everthing that was explained above but I also drilled "5" 1/16" in every light bulb housing. 1 in the middle and 4 around the sides. I still ahve the green tint of the covers but it does brighten up the dash.
