Just got my 2005 to replace the POS 2003 Expy. Ford seems to have gotten it right this time. What a difference in the 05's handling and feel. Definately better fit and finish. Still have the crappy Conti's on it but their better than the ones on the 03.
cool thats a nice ride....I luv the new single tone paints on the '05, I hate the dual tone on my '04. Is there any major diff between the '04 and '05?
shumann,
glad to see ford followed through without any more hang-ups! just wanted to know if you test drove the 2005 on the highway/freeway at 70-80mph? and if so, what did you experience at those speeds?

2005 Expy - WOW

Didn't have a chance to take it over 70 at the test drive, but it felt and rode better than the 03. Had it up to 80 the other day and its smooth as glass. The suspension and ride are superb. I have to watch the speedo carefully though because the truck is going a lot faster than it feels. Only diff between the 03 and the 05 is the dash and the 300 hp engine. The engine is also smooth as glass and the extra 40 hp really makes a difference. I would definately buy this expy
Do you guys really think your '03s are POSs? I have an early build '03 Eddie Bauer and I couldn't be happier. However, my friend has a pretty new '04 XLT, and she has had numerous problems with hers ie:crazy radio, a/c inactive on highway drives, moaning rearend, rattling windows, all of which I haven't had on my '03. Another friend of mine purchased her Eddie Bauer '03 the same week I did and she couldn't be happier with hers too, no problems except for crazy exterior mirrors which we both had fixed per a very useful TSB, now our reverse-tilt mirrors work beautifully and do not pop any more when you unlock it with the fob. I know for a fact that Ford did some cost-cutting in the middle of the '03 Expedition production, ie: no more extended reverse sensing system, just regular one with 4 sensors instead of the more advanced sonar and radar sensors, also deletion of underhood light, reduction in audiophile radio wattage, and few other things I can't think of right now. However, I can understand if you had lot of problems such as a/c trouble and rearend troubles, your POS claim might just be true lol. Maybe you guys can trade up for an '05 with the bigger motor, hopefully the '05s have all the kinks worked out.
Is my early build 03 a POS? Without question or hesitation, I can tell you with a straight face that it is the worst vehicle that I have owned as far as having problems. I honestly don't feel safe in the vehicle most of the time. The worst part is that it has lost it's value so badly over the last 2 years that I have no hope of getting out of it. I'm about 5-7k upside down right now. Here's the best part, I had 0% interest AND it was purchased with the A-plan. That's pretty sorry for holding value.
I’ve had all the classic problems with my 03 including loosing value. 0% is the only redeeming feature right now.
Most of the problem was with my dealer, taking 2 or 3 tries to fix anything and usually messing up the truck with grease in the process. I just realized they put the trim on backwards when they rebuild the sunroof for the second time.
The good news in my sales guy just took a position of sales manager at a competing dealer. I when in to see if he wanted to keep me as a customer and asked if he would help me out with repairs and fixes at the new dealer.
I have it in twice for two issues (that have been tried may times at the old dealer) and they are both fixed on the first try.
Everything I read from this site and others said, just go try another dealer for warranty repairs. I did and I’m starting to love my truck again.
TKD....I'm in the same boat as you in terms of finances....Same car, same terms. If I could get out of mine today I would, and I wouldn't get another one. Some thing is seriously wrong when a model has this many issues and cant hold its value for shi%. Luckily, the only problem I've had is the reverse mirror issue.
