05 Expy
Still see some brake dust on the front wheels, but nothing like we saw on our '03 EB.

Thank you for trying to assist me on Wednesday November 22, 2004, after I had to return to the service department for the reported problem of the front Air Conditioning (A/C) unit, and it still NOT being corrected. Since then, I have done some independent research and have realized there appears to be issues with respect to the Air Conditioning, Rough Idle and Water entering the firewall (to name a few), and while I have not found any public disclosures for the 2005 model, there have been several reported Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) for the 2003 and 2004 models (TSB#04-05-09 for the reported A/C problems). You alluded to this in your conversation with the technician helping to review my vehicle that evening (although you did not confirm this with me). I now understand the complexity of the system, after doing this research, since it no longer uses a "fixed orifice", but now uses an "electronic thermostatic expansion valve", and I'm sure this combined with the "dual zone" system has contributed to less than ideal performance/diagnosis issues.
The problems continue to escalate and now there are new issues to report. The following is a short draft of some of the problems being exhibited by the truck since my last visit:
· The A/C problem continues. Actually, there was no air blowing from vents at one point on Monday morning (11/29/04 at approx 10AM) after about 20-30 minutes of driving. The A/C was set to AUTO and the temperature console set to 72°. The unit could be heard cycling on and off. I manually turned the temperature down to 65° and back up to 72° - 73° before the fan would come back on. The outside temperature was at 76°. The rear air console was on fan setting # 2 and two notches from cold, and that unit was and continues to blow freezing cold.
· The carpet under the front passenger mat, going up under the dashboard is soaking wet AGAIN, and there have been no memorable rainstorms or periods where the vehicle has been exposed to water. You have scheduled your "water leak" expert to diagnose the problem, so hopefully we can get that resolved. My instinct (and subsequent research) tells me it's still related to the A/C, but we'll see what your testing turns up. However, regardless of the outcome, the carpet already smells musty and I fear my child’s allergies will become exacerbated. I am therefore requesting that the carpet be CHANGED after all leaks are located and the problem, be it A/C or not, is fixed/corrected.
· Engine Misfire / Rough Running / Terrible mileage - Problem is worse in early morning cold start, but is also noticeable at any start where the engine has had a chance to cool off. Have had passengers in my vehicle comment on how rough truck idles when at stand-still or traffic lights. I have also noticed a marked difference in fuel consumption as time has gone on as it has gotten worse since my last service visit to the dealership. Please note that this was mentioned on my last service consultation, however, my service writer dismissed it as normal as "his vehicle exhibits the same problem and I'll just ignore it after a while". It is my understanding that a Technical Service Bulletin (# 04-16-1 which supersedes TSB# 03-14-04) addresses this issue, so I would like to have my vehicle checked for this problem.
Looking forward to the speedy and final repair of my vehicle for these reported issues, and that there will be no repeat occurrences as it relates to the problems detailed above.
Regards,
That letter was dated 12/01/04, the same day I took it back for service. Well that letter lit a fire under somebody because they kept the truck for a week (equivalent rental covered) and to date it seems like all things are fixed except the Rough Idle problem. The Service Manager himself has called several times to verify I am happy, but since I'm having aformentioned trouble he will have them look at it again (they remapped computer last time it was there). I have done research on here an have found out that the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is giving some issues, so since they still have a panel to replace (I'm very picky) so I guess I'll put in my $0.02 so they can address that issue once again when they call to let me know the stuff came in.
MAke sure you do what "jyd" mentioned above.... some of my tires were "out of round"... admittedly so by the service writer..... THEY REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES... and all is fine now.
