I'm getting ready to swap out my non-tach instrument cluster in my '82 truck with one from an '86 with a tach and a trip odometer. I'd like the odometer in the replacement (at 73K) to match the one in the original cluster (44K). How can I set the replacement odometer to match? Is there a better way than connecting a drill to the speedo and running it for the next month or so?
And does anyone know just WHY Ford sold trucks with a manual transmission and without a tach??
It's possible to drive out the pin thru the odometer dials & reset them, but it's difficult to get all the dials realigned so they work and the numbers on the 10ths dial are easy to rub off if you handle them too much.
