Cool HELP!? Interior Lights Wont Turn OFF!

98EB- started out that the door ajar and int lights would stay on even after the front passenger door would be closed. this would only happen with this door. Now the lights wont turn off at all!!! I tried opening and closing all doors and rear hatch. This is my first time on this site, so sorry if this has come up already and I just couldn't find the thread. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

There is a switch located in the door opening, usually midway between the door hinges. This switch is used to operate the interior lighting when the door is used. I would open the door, locate the switch wherever it may be, and visually inspect it for damage. Next, I would push in on it so it breaks contact and see if the lights go out. Now you may have a delay between when you break contact and when the lights turn off, but your "Door Ajar" light is not delayed and should go off instantly. You may find you need a switch replacement.

Your light switch is part of the locking mechanism. It is not the old contact/plunger style.

Try liberally dowsing each lock mechanism with WD-40 or something similar. This is usually a fix for your problem.

Wd-40 is the winner. It took care of the problem right away. Monsta was right on about it being in the locking mechanism. Thanks, I love this website already!

Inside the door latch. The one on the door not the body.

Do ALL the latches, including the two latches for the tailgate/rear window assembly.
