I have never dealt with 6.0, so I can't say if it is good or not. I don't even know anybody that owns one. But i do know that international harvester has been building diesels for years, and they know what they are doing. If the new powerstroke has problems, keep in mind that it is a relatively new design, and is bound have some bugs in it. International's normal engine productions are for semi-trucks, which are different beasts entirely. but own an international pickup, along with my ford, and i can tell you that the ih truck is just as bullet proof as my ford. trust me, IH doesn't build junk. keep the faith, the 6.0 will be just as legendary as the 7.3.
If you think about it 22 seasons of great diesel motors from international. Barring a few bumps along the way in 03 the debut year off the 6.0. And you know what there are some old 6.9s chuggin along yet. 20 plus years later. And we want a cummins I dont think so. How many motors in twenty two years off production. Longer then the cummins in the Dodge by far.

That attitude will get you a long ways around here.
Take offense to the comments earlier if you like; I didn't participate. However, it is frustrating when it is impossible to interpret what you are saying. How do you expect comments, replies, assistance, ect. when your statements aren't legible?
Lighten up, use some periods now and then, and enjoy FTE. None of it is difficult
I am retired from Cummins and my wife works there in corprate and there are no rumors of putting a Cummins in a Ford, they did put some in a few when they were developing the engine years ago.
Hey guy no offense intended. I think I uderstand your post there. Were just havin fun. Keep on posting. Were all in this together. No I dont think Cummins will be in a Ford anytime soon. The 6.0 is doin just fine. Still the no 1 selling diesel on the market.

I understand alot of you cannot get past loyalty - and thats fine. I'm sure there are some who would still buy a Super Duty even if the only diesel option was the same TD out of a Volkswagon Jetta - and thats ok with me too. But I have to disagree with some of the remarks insinuating that Ford would be better off without the Cummins ISB. Whether or not anyone here would like to admit it, an ISB in a Ford Super Duty would spell the end of Dodge truck sales and knock GM out of the diesel market for a long time to come.
I've driven the PSD with torqueshift and it appears a masterpiece of engineering at first glance. The engine is a beauty. Shifting and acceleration are perfect. Dodge has nothing to compare in terms of drivability. Still I see lots of problems posted all the time in this very forum. I keep my mouth shut and simply read - but they are never ending (I'm talking chronic major problems, ie, engine rebuilds, replacements, buy backs, DSB's, to name nothing of the questions regarding TSB's, flashes and re flashes, etc) Now theres the torqueshift transmission issues, and buying a manual for me would'int work - I've heard too many complaints about lack of low end with them.
This scares me guys. Performance is not an issue - it's definately there. Reliability is another question. What would I look like if my big bad diesel went up in smoke with a blown engine with only half the miles my brother has on his Titan? Now Ford intends to stroke the 6.0 to 6.4? And add a twin turbo? Now we're getting somewhere.... even more complication. See where I'm coming from? If only all these major complaints would simply end...it's friggen 2005 already.
Even if the 6.0 had no issues. Even if it was as good as it could be - it would still not be good enough to put Dodge out of the light truck business, and certainly would not force GM to go back to the drawing board. The Cummins ISB in the Super Duty - and all the sales that would come with this combo - would do both IMO, and for the record - I like the Dodge trucks - but truth is truth.
