I have heard that Dodge wants out of Cummins sooner, because of the cost savings with creating a Diamler diesel for the pickup truck. I also heard that Ford plans to repurchase International, so Its a toss up.
Just ran into a sub contractor of mine driving a new F350 gasser. He asked how I liked my diesel. Of course I told him I loved it. But he said he was waiting till 2007 to get the cummins in the ford. Is there truth to this? Or is this just a urban legend. I didn't have much time to find out where he heard this from. I assumed the dealer. But I love My PSD or is this a case that ford might be trying to get more market share if it's true
We have been hearing that rumor since the Cummins was first installed in the Dodge I can't believe anybody would buy it.
For has been using IH for 22 years why stop now? Besides I like the sound of my 6.0L V-8.
the 6.0 is faster but will never last as long as the cummins or have the low end pulling power, also the cummins gets quite a bit better mpgs. I wish ford would offer both engines like they do in the big trucks, you pick the one you like and everyone is happy, the cummins is the one I would chose because of the low end power and the mpgs.
Whats the point of having the cummins last longer then the PSD. To get the full life off the cummins youd have to replace the Dodge truck 3 times. Ford has the right motor in the right truck. It has to be scaryfor Dodge to give up the cummins. There whole reputation is based on that motor. The truck itself doesnt measure up to Fords superduty at all. Have you seen a Dodge truck next to a superduty. It just shows how inferier they really are.
I keep hearing the the 07 will have a 6.4 L Twin Turbo motor. It is supposed to be the 6.0 bored out to a 6.4 to help with the bottom end. The VVT is getting replaced with a twin turbo setup.
pathetic........ arguments and opinions are the reason some of us dont frequent here much anymore.

this subject has been a hot topic for as long as i have been alive.
rest assured that ford will stick to IH, dodge will stick with cummins, and chevy will continue to play the wild card.
we cant fathom the kind of dough the OEM's have forked out to get these engines in these trucks for us, the least we can do is give honest and constructive feedback and continue driving our "junkers" until they can invent the kind of magic it would take to build an unbreakable and infallable piece of machinery. remember, anything mechanical WILL fail at some point.
if u all believe everything u hear, u must live a fantastically ignorant life. please try to see this forum as a FORUM in the future, and a little less of a "chat" room
bighoss: From what I've been reading you've been chewing a lot of gum lately...good luck with the cigs BTW. I still indulge in cheap cigars from time to time. As with you it seems to coinside with a little livation. Beer in one hand and cigar in the other.
My wife needs to straighten up cause I can't stand all this drinkin'. man...she's mean.

What kind of trucks? (9 to 10 around town says to me "not your average pickup" - are they stake bed trucks and you carry heavy stuff, or tow a bobcat, or...?) And how many miles? I'd love to hear you check back in when they both have 150K on the clock.
