So I was thinking the other day and I have a question. Ok, a TTB doesn't have a front cover, like the solid unit because the TTB arm itself doubles as the front cover.
I'm wondering if anyone has ever cut out that section on the ttb and used it as a cover for their solid axle? That arm is much thicker than any cover I've seen, and it would be a solid upgrade if you had the old ttb laying around. Just curious - anyone ever done this?
yeah its the same, if you look in a hanes (or chiltons) one of the 4x4 pictures shows a chrome cover bolted overtop of the ttb. purely cosemetic in that application, but the bolts patterens should be the same.

for the record, before I'd put a chrome cover on the ibeam, i'd chrome the whole ibeam- ivan style...
Been done, works great. I have a twisted TTB beam that is getting cut up when I do my SAS. That cover'll be at least 3/16, maybe even .25. Don't see a rock going through that anytime soon.
Chromed TTB, now that would be a show truck, after all something that shiny would be a shame to take it offroad and get dings in it.
But using that as a cover would be great protection, as i know my dad has bounced an 80 1/2 ton 4x4 he has off the front cover going through fields, more than once ( he actually got some air one time).
Yeah, hoxii, that is what made me come up with the idea. Saturday I was dragging the axle on a rock and I noticed how stout that was compared to a normal cover.
