Would appreciate some advice in how to change the plugs on the intake side of my '89 2.3 engine. Got the exhaust side with minimal problem but this side looks impossible short of removing components. Help!!
I would recommend a swivel type plug socket with a LONG extension attached to your favorite ratchet.Use the longest extensions possible to gain better angles of entry to the plug cavities.Don't be afraid of the swivel socket breaking plugs because of the steep angles, just make sure you stay square on the plug itself.

I have a regular plug socket and a universal joint but assume the socket and u-joint neet to be combined for clearance. I just checked Auto Zone and they don't have one. Is this a tool I need to obtain from Snap-On or elsewhere? Thanks for your reply by the way!
You are right that a combined unit is what I'm talking about.Allthough you called AUTOZONE,they probably do have one on the shelf as I get that crap from them all the time! You can get them at WAL-MART,K-MART,SEARS,HI-Lo,etc.Don't forget about
a long extension{s} while you are there.

Appreciate the information. They did in fact have the swivel plug extension which I used and worked great. Got all four plugs today in today and all eight of the plugs and cables have now been replaced. Surprisingly it was not as difficult as I would have thought although I did have to rotate the alternator out of the way to get to the coil. Although I did get the long extension (both 12" and 24") I didn't really need them as it turned out. Thanks again!!
