God I hope they don't make that concept 'bronco' . It would be a real shame to hang the Bronco name on that poor excuse. The diesel engine would be nice though.
To answer your question, no, I doubt they will produce one. They already have too many SUV's in the lineup as it is.
I hope they come out with one, but not the watered down piece of crap that they have as a concept. it is AWD, doesnt have a removable top, and is uglier than sin. Oh and did i mention it is based on an escape platform. To me it is like fords version of the H2.
Actually the Concept Bronco had the option for the top to be removed b/c I saw it off once. Ford is rumored to be looking into putting the Bronco into the production Cycle and have some sort of Bronco here between 06-08ish? I heard it will be a diesel, with a solid axle in the rear and possibly in the front. With a Frame on Body. So that hopefully means no Escape frame usage. Thats all I heart. Ford is keeping their lips tight on this one, like everything else these days. But It looks like ford is trying to build us another Bronco.

I emailed Ford last year about this, and they actually called me at home. They said they were thinking of it, but no details at that time. I have seen the prototype and, uggg. Supposedly, Jeff's Bronco Graveyard sent up a 66 Roadster for the engineers and designers to study. I wish they would make kind of a retro throw back Bronco. I told Ford don't screw it up by making it plush and cute. Need to make it comfortable, but something you wouldn't mind using in the mud and woods. Functional. Very functional. Need to make something to compete against the Jeep Wrangler. That should be their target. Back in the day, the Early Bronco whooped some serious Jeep butt!! If the 2005 Mustang tells us anything, it says that Ford is capable of making something look retro and modern.

I really like the '05 Mustang. I haven't liked a Mustang since '69, so this new one is a big step in the right direction as I see it .
Whatever they do with the Bronco, it must have a body-on-frame, solid axles front and rear, part time manual 4wd, real low gearing (either a super low t-case ratio or a 5 speed with with a granny low first, both would be better), and able to fit 33x12.50's with good articulation without much lifting required. If they do a cheasy unibody street SUV and fancy AWD and CV axle multi link crap, it will never be a Bronco to me.
