A new problem today! Boy, this truck wants to keep me on my toes. I just got back from my lunch break. I got into the truck to warm it up and the tach was jumping up and down like crazy. Until it finally settled down and acted like normal. Has anybody else experienced this?
Was it just the tach or were the RPM's really jumping like that?
If it settled down after a few minutes of warm up, it could just be cold conditions...a lot of silly electronics things come a cropper in the severe cold. Not sure how cold its been in Canada but its been subzero here in St. Louis. My wipers, turn signals, door locks, have all frozen up in the past week alone.
If the problem persists, there should be a dark green/yellow (inst.clust. pin A10) signal send wire from the TFI module to the tach. Its a long shot but you might check connections. The power feed for the tach is a red/yellow (inst. clust. pin A13) wire originating at fuse#18 in the fuse block. The third wire to the tach is the black/lt. green (inst. clust. pin B3) wire which is the ground.
