Do you mean the end that sticks into the intake? If that's it, then the injectors will probably just dump fuel into the intake, or if there is a piece left on it, it could fall off and get sucked into the engine. I'd just replace them.

yeah, it is the intake side. problem is they are $80 new and for an 89 460 the injectors have these little plastic orange caps or hats around the end that do not seem very important

I believe the "hats"are replaceable, When I had to replace the head gaskets on my 3.8 cougar my mechanic (my cousin) replaced all of them. I think he got them from the head grinders shop.

when i was taking off the o-ring the cap came off. problem now is that i don t know where to get new ones. ford and autozne don't sell them and i have never seen a fuel injected 460 in a junk yard, maybe three carb
