I have had a camper special with a dana 44 front. F250s used the 60 rear until 1985 when Ford switched to the 10.25 sterling rear. My 79 f350 had 60s front and rear.

Broke

Okay Last sunday while trying to help a fellow offroader i broke something in the front axle. The front drive shaft turns but the axle do not turn. The guys i was with think it might be an axle. But i do need to check everything like the lockout's which are 1 ton lockout hubs if by chance they went i would like to just rebuild them. The aftermarket hubs i have seen are no where as big as what is on my 76 F-250. I have searched for rebuild kits and have so far no luck. Any help will appreciated. and the just so you know the ujoints are intact.

sounds to me like spider gears, weak spot in the 44s the hubs you have to get warn hubs, they neck down a bit but are stronger.

Okay took the cover off the 44 well not to my surprise the gear on the end of the left axle in the pumpkin has broken teeth and at least one spider gear has ruined teeth. And the metal plate that sits behind the pinion gear has been ripped and bent a lil at the bottom left.
