Did anyone ever find the answer to the howling intake problem. I have read the other posts on this issue but no definite solution to fix it. I am getting the howling too. I have had my air intake over a year now & it just started doing it a couple of months ago, very seldom, but seems to occur more since the weather is getting colder....I have a 2000 F-150 4.6L manual tranny. Any help would be great.
So did that get rid of the howl for good? I assume you have some kind of aftermarket intake, I was wondering how you rigged your hose from the little box to your intake pipe. My intake has the hose from the box going into the intake pipe between the air filter & the intake elbow. Thank you for the info....I will put the box back in......hopefully this will do the trick.
Yes I have a Volant intake. I had to remake the box so it would line up with the intake. I'll get some pics loaded so you can see what I am talking about. The noise did go away for good!

does this howling happen only around a certain RPM.. mine makes a simliar noise around 2300 rpms at around 40-50mph going uphill.. i was just wondering if this was the source of the howling noise.. btw, i have a 2001 F-150 4.6L v8
I relocated on of the fittings. Used a plastic one that I bought at the hardware store. I also cut the slanted part a little deeper. To plug the old fitting hole and replace the slanted part I cut off, I used an old tupperware lid. Cut to fit. Used JB weld to hold it all together
