engine&trans install how to do it?

Im gonna install my 390 and rebuilt cruiseo in my 66 f 100 i wanted to install them together .Which way to you guys prefer to do it?Ijust stripped and repainted the eng compartment with eastwood chassis black and dont want to scratch it. maddy

Set your tranny up on a table or rolling cart, then engine hoist your motor to it. You should have room underneath so that you can align the torque converter to the holes in the flex plate. Align the holes and butt the trans to the motor. Tighten down the bellhousing bolts then the torque converter bolts. Add the starter and you should be set. One other thing to think about, if using headers, drop those in at the same time the motor is going in, that way you can get around any clearance issues. I place mine in a trash bag, keeps 'em clean durring the install. Off course a couple of old blankets or sheets keep thing pretty too.
