ECM Codes, double-check please?

Ran my ECM codes and got
1 1 1 1 1 14 41 14 41
14 - Two or more successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup pulses occurred, resulting in a possible engine miss or stall.
41 - No HEGO switching detected always lean (right side)

I just changed spark plugs and wires, does this mean I didn't get one all the way on the right side? Also, the check engine light only comes on for a minute or two after I drive for 15+min, then it goes off for the rest of my trip, is this normal?

Thanks guys. I'll be back to check after I go fix my flat (it's been a rough day)

The always lean code could be a result of misfire. If plug doesn't fire, all that oxygen goes down the exhaust and the 02 picks it up. So I would go for pickup problem first.

I don't think you not getting a wire on all the way could cause the ignition pickup
problem, buy maybe someone else can shed some light on that.

Hi Mich. A flat? When it rains, it pours.

The 14, intermittant loss of PIP, sounds like an ignition module going bad, or possibly a loose spout connection.

The 41 says the O2 dosen't switch (always lean). This might be a true lean condition, or it could simply be a bad O2 sensor. If it's been in awhile, I'd change the O2.

A check engine light is never normal. I'd change the O2 sensor first, clean and tighten the spout connector, and clear the codes. Then recheck the codes after a time. If the 14 comes back, then suspect the ICM being (or going) bad.

Howdy. yes it certainly does, but thankfully I had my 55k mile road hazard warantee

spout connector?

Thanks for the info, the O2 sensor is the original as far as I know, one of those things on the "to-do" list...

Chilton says it may be difficult to remove if the engine temp is *below* 120 degrees, is that true? I thought metal expanded when hot 0.o
Also says to use a commercial solvent to make it easier to remove, any recommendations?
Finally, it says to use an 02 sensor anti-seize compound which, unlike normal anti-seize compounds, conducts electricity? Recommendations?
I have several o'reilly, autozone, wal-mart, and dealerships at my disposal, so if you recommend something I can probably nab it.

Thanks!

Yes, it's better to remove when hot. Just like when a bolt is stuck, you heat it up with a torch to break it loose.

Most 02 sensors I have replaced came with anti-seize already on the threads.

Alright, I replaced the sensor (which was amazingly easy... possibly the easiest thing I've done on the bronco 0.o ), disconnected the ground on the battery for a couple minutes to clear the computer, ran it 5-10 miles...

now I just have a 14 showing up...

Bump, can I get some more info on the Profile Ignition Pickup pulses? And lone ranger, what did you mean by a loose spout connector? Is there a way to test the ignition module?

Mitch, this web page references the PIP signal, and gives test procedures. It seems that your trouble can be from either a bad pick-up coil or ICM...?
Ignition Module Info
The spout connector is a gray or black plug-in that is disconnected when you set the timing. It's near the distributor. On second thought, that's probably OK.....

Hope this is some help.....
