amsoil
BH Pete. The XL 7500 oil that you are quoting here is a Gp III dino basestock, unlike the remainder of the Amsoil line which is PAO basestock. Even Amsoil does not recommend extended oil changes with this product as they realize- it ain't gonna make it. In regards to the API certification and the M-M act. Amsoil add packs are huge. API has reduced add packs because the Gov't has mandated the auto manufacturer to warrant the emmissions system for 150,000 miles. The Zinc and Phos levels must be a maximimum of Zinc 800 PPms and Phos 600 PPms. These two agents have been recognized as damaging to emmissions systems when gasing takes place in an engine. Amsoil with their PAO line up will almost be twice that. That is why the engine should have an API oil. The M-M act allows the manufacturer to write the specifications for the lube but cannot limit the specification to any one brand of oil. The specs state that it must be an API oil. API also certifies synthetics of all basestocks. Check out Mobil One synthetics. They are all API certified except their racing oils which exceeds API allowances for the add pack. And Mobil makes the basestocks for Amsoil. You also cannot compare the european cars to the USA autos. They do not have the emission systems that we have and they are not guided by the API but the ACEA. The reason the euro cars can go the extended route is because of the huge add packs like Amsoil.
Bob, Amsoil did not fail any API testing. They never submitted for testing as they recognize that most of their products won't pass the limits of the additive packages.
I guess I'm like others that frequent the board here, and read that Pete is not a dealer of Amsoil products. We have so many that can't understand that the webmaster will not allow them on the board. So, Pete, are ya a dealer? I guess we if don't hear, we can go duck hunting. Pete, we have others here that use Amsoil products and they are respected members of the board. We also don't chastize them for it. Okay, maybe a little harassment but we all get along.
