Fbodyfan, you're not comparing apples to apples. Of course a blown LS6 would beat a blown 5.4. But compare the base engines. LS6 has what 400+ hp compared to a 5.4 at 300 for this year, 265 from last year. So thats not a fair comparison. A 5.3 is though at 295hp. Same with the Cobra and a Z06, not a fair comparison. Thats a 2 seater sports car against a 4 seater sports coupe - not in the same league. The Mustang and Corvette have never been in the same league. Ford hasn't made a comparable car to the Corvette since they made the Thunderbird a big car in the early 60's. The Shelby was comparable (kicked its ***, actually) but that wasn't a Ford car. If you want to make a modern day comparison between a Z06 and a Ford, the only option is the Cobra R, then your on a similar playing field. Or the GT, but thats unfair for the Corvette. The GT is a street legal race car.
Trevor
Well thanks Trevor, but there was something you missed. Another member posted that the lightning would rip apart a chevy full size with an LS6. That's why I posted it. And another member on page 3 stated that the 03 Cobra was comparable to the Z06. You're shootin the messenger
I personally will never own a truck with the ford MPI on it again, the engine compartment is too busy which is one of the reasons I traded my 88 F250 work truck for a 2500 series GMC.
Yes, I agree the 88 F-250 had a lot going on under the hood, but it had nothing to do with the EFI. There's a lot of hoses and crap on the F-250s for emissions, it was like a first generation setup since the 88 was within a year or two of it coming out. The slightly newer trucks don't have all that BS under the hood, my 89 F-250 does too, but it's not all that bad, it's just emissions stuff. My 95 F-150 has practically nothing and it's still virtually the exact same EFI system, EEC IV.
Are you:
1. a shareholder in Ford (worried about your bottom line)?
2. really worried about who he convinces? What does it matter?
well ---- I could have just not said anything and everyone who didn't already know better would think GM was better from this guys rambling. don't want me to convince anybody that ford is better or anything, that would be disasterous!
ford is alot better. just ask they guy i bowl with on monday nights. he traded his ford in for a new chevy truck after i told him that was a big mistake. well his first problem was the truck would not down shift going up a hill with a load in the bed or when towing. well the the dealer told him that the trans was actually twisting with the motor to much and that was not letting the trand do its job and the dealer said it was an engineering flaw and they had a special bracket that they had to mount to the trans and then to the frame, problem number 2 : the truck all of a sudden start spittin and sputterin and not wanting to run, takes it to the dealer and they tell him that the distributer cap (or whatever GM uses) got water on it and burned up, replaced that and ok once more, problem 3 same thing as above and it was the same cause replaced it again, problem 4, same problem as above once more and they finally figured out what it was, those good people at GM ran the A/C lines right over the cap so when the A/C lines condensated water dripped off them and buyned the cap, all times the cap looked like it really was on fire. problem 5 and as of now still not fixed. horrible horrible front end shake when driving, problem is someplace in the suspension they think. he said he wished he would have listened to me and bought a ford again and he is trying to get GM to buy back the truck, if they wont he is going to wait another year and buy a used ford (which was one of the picks from consumer reports for one of the best used vehicles you can buy). i also seen on the news the other day that GM got the worst quality marks you could possibly get from some place like consumer reports, i forget the name of it.
Here's MO on this moron's brand;
rust= GM.even hardcore chevy guys will admit it.73-87 trucks, early impala x frames, chevelles &novas. They all pretty much rusted out about the time the last payment was made.
design-yea some chevies look better, yet some say "pimp my ride"
interior design-probably some of the worst ergonomical designs I've ever sit in(except maybe a volvo),who at GM thought we needed a video game format for heater controls?('88-91ish trucks)
If GM is so great, how come 5.0 mustangs beat the snot out of 5.7 f-bodiesfor years?
The marauder is faster than the impala super slug, but hot rod magazine didn't tell all the LT1 owners to run and hide, like they told 5.0 owners back in 94 when the ss debuted,so nobody really knew about 'em.
Don't get me wrong I like a few GM products, but that idiot must be getting his info from....well,he sounds like one of those guys who would say a 350 nova running 15's is faster than a 302 maverick running 13's because the nova weighs 4,200lbs.Never argue with an idiot, people may not know the diffrence.
thats right, GM is known for rust problems. my grandpa said back home the people there use to the body parts together with chicken wire so they would stay on the vehicle. also usually GM has to give better incentives to sell their vehicles and thats because they have to so they can be somewhat competitive against ford.
My grandfather bought a brand new 1977 Chevy C30 3+3 with a 292 six in it. THe body FELL off the truck by 1986, my father completely redid the entire truck (looked better than the original truck and lasted 3 times as long). It was a great truck, the body was just so full of holes within the first couple of years that it wasn't funny.
I went to work for a subsidiary company of Goodyear in 1980. I had a company truck and it was my job to travel VA, KY, and WV as an Off-the Road Tire salesman. My first new truck was a 1982 Chevy and I spent most every week looking for a ride home! The Strip Mining Jobs were tough on any vehicle. I convinced my boss to get me a Ford 300 6 Cyl with a 373 4X4 setup. The Chevy was worn slap out at 123,000 with major repairs. I got 190,000 on my first Ford and without a Valve cover being lifted! After that I worked for 22 years total with the company and had many Fords. I never failed to get close to 200,000 miles and had employees waiting for me to let it go so they could buy it! I traveled over 50,000 per year and never had to have someone take me home!
I also didn't have any rust problems and the company went with Ford! I write this knowing that many people will recognize me from this, and I can tell you the story will hold water! Even from the Chevy Lovers! Tell him to put that in his pipe and smoke it!
