I am still somewhat of a GM fan, this guy is buy and large an idiot. I had a 2000 T/A with an LS1, they made about 300 hp at the rear wheel. The ls6 is not a 427, that would be the new LS7 that is going in the new Z06. LS6 makes 400 hp in the new Vette. GM interiors are horrible at best, my T/A sounded like i had aluminum cans in the back and i had sub frame connectors on it from the get-go. Any station (except the new Magnum) screams "I belong to the Griswolds". He is a clown, let it go...
I could keep going, but i think the numbers speek for them selves as far as stock purchased cars.
Racing is a little different, its about even when racing 1/4 mile with a mustang and camaro, true ford offers the lightning but for being a supercharged 281 its not very fast, if chevrolet were to offer the ls6 in their truck supercharged it would beat it by a ridiculous amount of beating. <STYLE type=text/css><!--td.attachrow { font: normal 11px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color : #00000; border-color : #00000; }td.attachheader { font: normal 11px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color : #00000; border-color : #00000; background-color: #E3E3E3; }table.attachtable { font: normal 12px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color : #00000; border-color : #00000; border-collapse : collapse; }--></STYLE>
what do I say to all that???
Tell this gun on another forum, that the 03-04 cobra mops the floor with any production car that GM has ever made, when I say production, that means over 500 units per year, that excludes the ZL1, or ZR1, whatever camero. And the Lightning has a SOHC 5.4, I don't know, but I think 13's out of the box in a fullsize pickup is pretty good to me, with a simple pulley and tune will go well into the 12's. Go ahead, let GM put a supercharged LS6 in a fullsize pickup and see where it gets them, for the price, the L cannot be beat. If they want to bring out "their big-guns" with a blown LS6, ford could just reply with the blown 5.4 DOHC out of the new Ford GT. This guy has no real knowledge about anything, and everything that I he posted was either opinion, or total BS. What forum is this on, PM me if you don't want it public. This guy is a total tool.
Surely is common knowledge here, but I thought I would chip in. The radio for 1989 (even 1988) was not the post-**** radio or three hole setup. Hmmm...
Everything is right, except that the GT motor is a 5.4L modular and not a 4.6L.
I know, they're similar, just wanted to clarify.
Got me there....hah...1 slip out of all that wasn't too bad
The lightning will do low 12s with only a couple mods....the Cobra will do high 11s with under $500 in modifications....
I think Ford spent a billion or so on those modular motors. They wanted to implament them across all models...they started in 91-92 with the crown vics/town cars..etc....the mustangs got them in 96, the F-150 got them in 97, the F-250/350 got them in 98, the explorer had the older 5.0 til 98...etc etc....they were slowly put into production across all models...they're very good engines.
The older small block fords will also stay around for awhile in the performance crowd, just not production, Ford still makes 5.0 blocks. They make a high performance 351 block, and the aftermarket has some 302 or 351 blocks out there too. The only problem with the 4.6 or 5.4 from a performance aspect, is that you can't stroke them very much for extra cubic inches. The older windsor motors were able to be stroked a lot, like the 302 can go out to a 347 (i've seen up to a 355 but most people stick to 347 or below). The 351 can go all the way out to a 427 comfortably...mine is a 393.

it's www.crapromedia.com,
under the general topic,
thread - "got my truck stuck between mud and a . . . mud"
the forum is down at the moment it's just a small site with like 200 users made by some guys I know from school. and apparently they're working on it, but they said it'll be back up tonight
Thats good... Next time mention that the module on GM distributors (which you have to take apart in order to get at the module) costs about $150... Ford doesn't have a distributor, because like the rest of the world, we've progressed to OHC engines.
If you ask me, Chev it or leave it.
A Gm might make more power, but at least you can pass a gas station and don't need a 42 gallon tank to take a road trip.
You cant really compare a stang to a vette. One is a sports car, the other is a have fun, car for 20 year olds. Ford has never really built a coupe sports car. Also, wat was the best selling truck for the longest time?
Ford sells about 900,000 F-series trucks a year....that is the highest selling vehicle in america. More people have F-series vehicles than any other make/model out there. It's been at the top for the last 27 years or so...something like that...
That's because the 302 can flat out keep up with a 350 in stock form, and if you compared the 351 to the 350 the 351 would win hands down... My dad and I have proved that time and time again.

i compltely agree with you. the chevy guys brag about it though.
another thing I'm sure all you guys may have noticed...when ya hear someone say that they rebuilt their SBC engine for "X" amount of $...compared to a small block Ford engine, I just smile, and say "Gotta make up the difference in crapola fuel economy somewhere!"
It usually gets 'em everytime!
I'm not a big fan of GM stuff, but my grandparents have a '94 Caprice with the LT1 4.3 V8....for a little bitty mouse, that thing sure does haul!
yes, I did say LT1 4.3 V8, lol
I don't think the LT1 is a 4.3, it's a vortec 5.7l motor... The 4.3 is a VORTEC V6. GM did away with their 4.3 V8s in the early 80s... Most caprices had 305s in them, but a few had the LT1, or the 350 from the Z28.
