I just acquired a three light bar from a dually. The three lights that are under the tailgate. Anyway my question is to those who have wired one of these into their trucks. Which hot wire did you use? Did you splice into the brown wire going to the taillaights or the brown wire going to the license plate light?
Ok did a search on this and found that people are using the trailer light assembly to splice into. Which color does what on the four prong trailer assembly? I do not want to tape into the 7 wire assembly as it is mounted up in the bed of my truck.
I am also going to run a relay and wire in amber running lights on the running boards but tie in from the 4 prong trailer lights with the relay and use them to flash too. So knowing what each color does will be great. Thanks
trailer tow 7 or 4 pin; running lights brown/white. when i put lights on my running boards i just opened the harness on the drivers side frame and found the same brown/white wire and tapped in there.
I was hoping you would chime in cause I knew you had done this mod already. Do you know what the other wire colors do? Like which side flashes the right and which one is for the left? I am wanting my running board lights to flash so I am running a relay off of that same trailer harness to get them to be on with the running lights and then flash too. I realize with the relay they will wig wag with the truck flashers and taht is what I want.

dark blue=trailer elect. brake feed
dark green=trailer right stop/turn lamp
yellow=trailer left stop/turn lamp
light green=stop lamp feed to brake control
orange=trailer battery feed (hot with key in run only)
red=trailer elect. brake control feed
white=ground
I did this on mine and I used all LED's instead of the normal lights they fit right into the bracket, direct replacement. got them at checker I think. there a lil spendy but I have had them on for over a year and they have never given me a problem. since leds never burn out they last like 10 times longer then regular light bulbs, and look so much cooler IMO. wish I had a pic loaded in my gallery. I gave it a little thought and I have 38!!!!! aux lights on my truck, including the visor and cab lights.
I put 5 lights under the tail gate like the clearance lights, and used my license plate light feed. Looks great! Too bad I can't see them when i'm cruisin'.
I got a jolt of energy today and loaded a few pics. you can see the racerback lights and the ones on the side of the bumper. I have since added two on the racerback that work with the brake/turn signals and the 8 in the grill aren't on there either.
CAT_man_963 "NO such thing - you can never have too many LED's!!!"
26 LED's. that is so insanely expensive at roughly $5 a light. but well worth the sweet look flying down the road.
