I have a 2000 F-250 4X4 and have changed ball joints tie rod ends, Ilder arm and still have steering slop. Steering gear box is all that left. Who makes a good replacement box and power steering pump it's whinning. Thanks, Mike
Had the same issue with my 2000. Decided to adjust the box before replacing all the tie rods. It is like driving a new truck now. Will wait to replace tie rods. I am going to replace my pump. It has been whining and is getting louder.
check your tie rod ends for excessive play first, also check your steering shaft for play. If they are decent and you still have a lot of play in your steering wheel while driving, look on top of steering box you will see a nut with a screw in the middle of it. Losen nut and while holding nut still tighten screw half to 3/4 turn. snug nut check play. If you tighten to much steering box will bind, just back off screw a hair. when play is gone tighten nut good, may take you a few times adjusting to get just right....
