Painless or Centech

Hey, I am beginning a restoration of a 74 Bronco. Anyone have any expierence with centech vs. painless wiring harnesses? Painless is a bit more expensive $545 at JEGS .Any comments would be helpful, Thanks ,Jim in Georgia

Hey Jim,
Here's an answer to take with a grain of salt. I am pretty much in the same boat as you - A 73 with crispy wires (and I haven't done this before). I'm sure this has been hashed over many times here and @ classicbroncos.com. You might want to do a few searches here & over @ cb. I've done a bit of research and found that with the mod's that I'm planning, it makes more sense to go through the little bit of extra pain to use the Ron Francis wiring. General concensus seems to favor Francis for quality - Centech or Painless for ease. Look at the fuse boxes, # circuits/fuses, and switches you get with each. They are really close, but I think you get a little bit more from the painless (vs. Centech).

While you are searching, look for electrical mod's that you might be considering (intermittent wipers, 1-wire alternator, etc.). Some of them require mod's to the Centech/Painless harness.

Good luck & have fun!

I went with painless.. Absolutely no complaints.. very complete kit, and then some! Everything you would ever need, etc.

However I can't compare it to the centech- never seen one.

Good Luck. Oh yeah, be careful who you buy the kit through.. when I was looking I saw prices that varied well over a hundred bucks.
