Well, I finaly got tired of the jumping and streaky wipers so I went out and bought a set of Bosch whipers. Thought they would be really high quality, but after installing them, I still get streaks of water left behind.
Make sure the windshield is clean, Windex it and use windshield cleaner in the washer tank. Pre bend the blade holder to match the windshield curve better and use Rain-X. Carl......o&o>.........
I like the teflon blades by Trico, and Tridon. You also should replace the whole blade, after awhile, as it wears and gets sloppy. Most of the streaking and chattering is from the pollution in the air. You can look on the left side of the windshield and see the grease left by the blade. Original Windex or Stoners will get all the grease off.
On some vehicles it streaks because the wiper arm spring is weak and not placing enough pressure on the windshield. So, you have to bend the upper most part of the wiper down to put more pressure on the windshield so it spreads out the blade. This use to be an instant fix for the rear wiper on the older Explorers too.
Sounds like maybe someone mucked with the wiper arm. It's one of the first things people do to try and fix their problems.
Don't touch/bend the wiper arm, once you do it's screwed up for good.
I know because I worked as a designer at one of the major car manufacturing places as a designer on windsheild wipers. Oh what complex components.....you wouldn't think so but it is.
You might want to get a new arm.
Glad someone came on here and said to never start bending windsheild wiper components. My F.I.L. is a windshield wiper bender, and has the most mucked up wipers you ever wanted to see. Told him if I caught him bending mine again I'd break his arm. He messed up the rear wiper twice on the Aerostar, Ford wants a small fortune for the set up.
nah, its not bent at all,
the blad itself leaves a few small beads of water on the windsheild, 1mm or so?.. just they can be destracting.. Took a bucket of warm water with soap and whiped the blades down the best I could. Bought RainX, will put that on tomorro afternoon when the temp warms up a bit.. little cold to do it at night..
the springs in the wiper arm wear out... there's little springs you can put on the wiper arm that add pressure to the blade... thought 10$ was a little steep but took a chance and found they work good
other thing i do is keep the defrost on or the water freezes on the glass and doesn't wipe off good
