I have a 97 f 150 4.6 w/ 95,000 . The truck started missing and the engine light went on . I had it diag. and the #1 cyl had a miss, So I thought I would change the plugs and wires. what a job that is turning out to be..
I got them all (7) changed (with no fingers left ) and went to #8 and the spark plug was broke and all the ceramic is packed (melted) down around the plug. It has been broke for some time, you can tell by the color and shape of the end of the plug. Now i can,t get my socket down in around the plug. I tried blowing it out , picking it out with a small awl, but it's like baked around the plug. What the #$%#$% !! ?? now ??
Try spraying some brake and parts cleaner down in there. Let it soak for a bit then try poking around to break it loose. They you should be able to blow it out. (WATCH EYES for flying parts cleaner!!!!)
I got the damn plug out last night/ this morning, I had to make (weld) up a 7/8 hole saw to get down in around the plug. I blew all the crap out then soked it with breakaway for about 3 hrs.
I had to use my impac to break the plug loose.
what a joke!! --stupid design !!
