Hey Everyone,
I was looking through my summit racing mag. today, and saw and ad for an electronic shift improver for 94-96 f-series trucks with the e40d. But will this work on my 92 e4od?? Its the same tranny right?? Im alittle new to the ford truck world, but not to the automotive world, any help word be great. Thanks for your time,
I've heard a lot of scarry things about them, like they tend to mess up your tranny. Improving the shift quality by increasing internal line pressure is just bad (at least the way these things do it is). And that is what these things do.
If your E4OD works well I wouldn't mess with it. If it does not work well a shift kit is not going to fix it. If you do this and anything goes wrong it will be expensive to get back to where you are now.
I had one in my 94 for years (over 200k Miles) but recently took it out because my truck quit and I didnt know if it was the culprit. Ive heard of people having their computer go bad while using them. You can get a sonnax acumulator valve kit for 20-30 bux and it will acomplish the same thing without touching the electronics. Thats what I am going to do.
