I have a 98 Expedition and purchased a $40 electronic shift improver from jcwhitney. In the catalog it said that it fits 94-97 F series,Exp,etc. with the 4R70W,AODE,& E4OD trans but when i got it and opened the package it stated that it only fit E40D trans up to 1997.Which is true?If i hook it to my ECU will it mess things up? I have confirmed I have the 4R70W trans. HELP!!!!
I'd make absolutely sure that its for your type of tranny. Other trannies are different and it prolly wouldn't work and could mess stuff up. summit racing sells a programmable shift improver that you can set up to modify shift points and firmness. That might be useful for towing or other heavy duty use or racing (i wouldnt be racin no expedition). Hope this helps.
I think John has a pretty good point on this one here. It obviously is not for your vehicle. I know that the E40D has had many updates done to it since its birth. I'm sure its the same story with the 4R70W.
