Everything still has to pass the filter. A little moisture in the airstream won't hurt the motor, ever hear of water injection? Just don't want to submerge the inlet. Most water will either be turned into a mist or drop to the bottom of the air claener where you can drill a couple of small drain holes, say 1/4" if your worried about it. Snow would melt from engine heat if not too heavy. white out conditions may be too heavy. Sleet and slush probably too heavy to get very far upstream, again engine heat would melt it soon. I would be more worried about bugs, dust, and leaves. for that just change filter more often. Just my opinion, doesn't mean much, and yes I do have a ram air set up on my truck. No problems yet.
