DVD playing software
I've downloaded a few free programs taht promise to play DVD's on my pc from download.com but for diff. reasons non of them will play dvd's on my computer. anyone know where I can download a free dvd player online that works?

first of all do you have a dvd player ? if not no software in the world will play them on your pc with a regular cd drive. DVD's are a multi layer disc, some disc are over 7 gig's in size. you need dvd decoder software such as PowerDVD to decode all that data.

I do have a DVD-Rom, and found PowerDVD 6, I downloaded the trial verision and this is the error I get "This copy protected disc can not be played when the TV out function is enabled." I do I disable that? or can I?

Maybe it thinks you're trying to send the signal to a TV to copy it onto a VHS or something like that. Considering that's the error, try disabling that function.
Also, your drive is a DVD-ROM or -R or -RW drive right?
Oh, and I'd recommend PowerDVD.

You probably have a video card with TV out or at least it thinks you do.
Right click on your desktop and select properties, Settings tab, and you'll probably have to go into the 'Advanced' area, look there under all the tabs to see if you have TV output selected and turn it off. You may have to readjust your monitor as doing this may change your display refresh rate and/or resolution.
