DID you try backing upu after you switched out of lo range, also the only time you really need low is if you are pulling something very heavy. high will do about 90% of off roading needs. unless you have large tires and did not regear to comp for the tires.
My 05 gets stuck all the time. switch it back to low, drive forward a few feet then go back to neutral & shift to 4H, if it transfers out of low, then move it on to 2H. You can also go to neutral while still rolling at almost a dead crawl and shift to 4H. sometimes this works.. Wish I had got the manual transfer case..
To get out of 4 low with the ESOF, you *must* be in neutral and have your foot on the brake. Switch the button and wait a few seconds and out it will come. If you are in gear, or are rolling without your foot on the brake, it won't happen. (This is in the owner's manual, by the way.)
If I'm ever in a situation where I think there's some increased chance of the truck being stolen, I leave it in 4LO. Given how hard it is to get it out of 4LO (as evidenced by this question popping up here every 2 days in wintertime!) I figure the thieves will give up trying to run away with my truck at 7MPH. I'd be able to catch up with them on foot!

This is funny, and smart. I like and might do the same.

Too funny, I guess you can just chase the screaming sound! Now just hope for everyone involved your not in your undies when they decide to make a "high speed get away"
My 04 4x4 got stuck in 4Lo. It wouldn't shift to 4Hi or 2wd. Had to get it towed to Ford. Turns out there was moisture in the defective relays. Wish I had the manual transfer case now.
