Yeah i've tried the hammer trick and the battery is really good, and yes I've also turned the engine over by hand so its not seized, the starter is going to be tested today as soon as I can get someone to drive me into town as I am having alternator problems with my everyday mazda truck (peice of ****!!! The 27 year old ford is in better running condition than the mazda)
I am a nebie but have had the same problem with my 96 ch*v 1500 diesel, and my 47 ******-jeep. Both had a problem with whe battery cables or the connections, both would just click, unless you jumped the batery with another vehicle. I would check all of your battery cable connections, both bolt connections and solder.
All the connections have been cleaned already, even where the selanoid cable attaches to the starter. I got the starter tested and its toast so I'll be getting another one later this week, unfortunately it wont be ready for me to drive it to Drumheller at christmas for my Grandmas Christmas present, oh well. I hope that is all thats wrong with it, I have to put in a new fuel pump and gas tank in too, but I already have those and I have new plugs too. I hope the sender is ok, someone told me that it has to be ordered from the States but I dunno. oh well
