My hours are 8:30-5:30 Mon-Fri I have 1 1/2 hour commute each way and lately because of Academy season I have been staying late just about every night to make my deadlines Sometimes I bring work home with me to do on the weekend...
Monday to Friday - noon to 8:30 pm - plus an average of 5 hours a week in O/T when its busy (and thats all the time). Love the hours - I can sleep in late every day and stay up late whenever I want to.

I work an average of 42 hours a week, earn 3 hours vacation time, if I work a holiday I get paid regular wages, holiday pay (regular rate, not overtime) and a vacation bonus...all for $7 an hour...
M-F 8-4:30 No weekends... No holidays... 3-4 evenings a year for events...2 weeks off at winter break, 1 week at spring break, all the minor holidays, 10 week vacation every summer....
one week I will work 72 hrs in 3 days the next 48 in 2 days and the 3rd 48 in 2 days. then it repeats 72, 48, 48. the normal worker works 2080 hours a year. I work 2920 hours a year. Any thing over 2920 is Overtime!
But one way to look at my schedule is:
I only work 10 days amonth or 121.5 days a year!
5am-5pm M-F in summertime. Any other time....you're looking at anywhere from a 6 to 7 am start and a 330 to 5 pm shut down. Use summer to save, and winter to relax!
Right now, but this is fixing to change, I was either from 8-8 or 11-11 everyday exept on weekends, I either work 8-5 or 10-11. I get paid for 8 hours regardless of whether I only actually do 2 hours of work or whether I work 8 hours that day. If I am schedules 8-8, everything after 5 pm is overtime regardless of whether I started at 8 or if I didn't do my first call until 10 or 11. Unless I start before 8am. Like if I actually commit to my first call at 7:40, then at 4:40 everything starts in overtime. Anything over the 8 hours is overtime pay. We have our laptop and we are in control of all of our time. we put in the time during each call and decide whether it is straight or overtime.
I work on ATM's so I work from call to call, and there are times when it is very busy and then sometimes when there are no calls. If there are no calls, we either go to the office, or just ride around, or do what ever we want to. One thing I like about my job is that I am on my own most of the time while working. There are others working, but we are all our separate ways and may not actually see each other all week.
i work in construction. union pay is about 22.50 an hour and a dollar more if you work at night. we get health, dental plan and a pension plan. instead of paid holidays we get a bones equal to 11% of our wages, twice a year at christmas and before the summer break
we usually work 9 hours, 7:00 am to 4:30pm. anyting over 9 hours a day is overtime... overtime is 2x regular wages. saturday and sunday and holidays are overtime too
since we're all union and get the same pay, overtime is what the companies use as an incentive to keep good workers.
how much money you make all comes down to how much overtime you get. a 45 hour week is about 550 can$ after taxes not counting the benefits. that's about enough for rent/mortgage, car payment, groceries and utilities and a little running around money. but make a little overtime and you're easily brining home 700-800 a week.
