F350 E40D trans problem
My F350 has been throwing a code that says the torque converter is slipping. It oes into a safe mode or something that maxes out the line pressure in the tranny and it shifts real hard. It's done it three times now and what I've been doing to "fix" it is unhook the battery to clear the code. I just bought the truck a month ago. The trans had been rebuilt and a shift kit installed by a shop before I bought it.
Has anyone else had this problem?
It's a 1995 F350 4x4 w/ 460 gas engine, E40D trans, 3.55 gears

I would recommend having it looked at soon. Hopefully the shop that did the work might honor the warranty? WIth a slipping TC, you are going to heat things up and eventually start throwing debris into the fluid which then will destroy the tranny.
Might be something as simple as an adjustment or it may have gone past that point. My 94 F250 was shifting hard intermittently back around 50K when I forgot to check fluid, dummy. The slippage did as I described above and cost me $2500 to rebuild with all the upgrades etc.
Good Luck,
Jim Henderson

I think the problem might be gone. My Tranny shop changed the solenoid pack and the fluid and filter and hasn't acted up yet after 120 miles. So we'll see. I found out the converter is a new (15,000 miles) Dynamic converter, so it's gonna be something electronic. Keeping my fingers crossed.
