Daytime Running Lights

Hey all,

I'm new here. Looks like yall got a great forum going. NOt sure this is the appropriate forum for this question, but here goes.

I have a 1998 Expedition EB built for Canadian sale, so it has the daytime running lights.

I like them for regular driving, however I hunt alot and play slow pitch softball as well. So when I drive back in where I hunt at O-dark-thirty, I want to be lights out or parking lights only. Same for softball - really irritates me when someone pulls in and parks against the fence with their lights on and your watchin for the ball. As well, warming it up in the AM when its is cold and they shine down the driveway into the neighbors house.

I searched some and found that their should be a module behind the left headlight and to pull the pulg in the middle. What has been unclear is if another plug is needed to keep everything else workin appropriately. Or is it just a fuse?

I have not been out to look it over, so I am not sure about locating the module on vehicle yet. What exactly is required to disable the DRL's on a 98 expedition?

I have heard that they go off when you activate the parking brake. If this is true, I think I would do any modifying/wiring there, and keep the rest original. I have heard of some guys just slightly activating the parking brake, and they go out, but their cables must be a little loose to the brakes to keep them from dragging. You could also possibly find the switch on the brake unit lever, and make up something to activate it, or add a switch to the correct wires.

Thanks for the info, however the parking brake has no effect on mine, I believe because it is canadian.

I am hoping to go outside at lunch and look it over under the hood in daylight.
