I have a 1996 f-350 diesel. Apparently it has daytime running lights. I have been told that during that year Canada required daytime running lights on vehicles, as this must be where this truck originated. The question: does anyone know how to cut these off, when the ignition is switched on the high beams are on, then the headlights are able to be switched between high and low beam after the headlight switch is cut on, there is no way to only have the park light on, Please Help.
Since I don't know offhand how to do it, I'd pick up a chiltons manual (the haynes wiring diagrams suck) and look at the headlight switch diagram. Then just modify it to match the diagram.
STOP! Put away those wirecutters & butt splices! The DRL Module on your truck is behind the front bumper on the driver side under the headlamp & park lamp assemblies. If you truly do not want DRL, the module can be removed, but then you need to replace it with the little "jumper" plug that is used on all vehicles that are DRL capable but lack the module. Use of the jumper allows for the proper operation of your headlamps once the module is removed.
One of these jumpers can be had from any number of models that were wired for DRL. Perhaps the easiest one to access would be from a 91-94 Explorer: They are just to the left (right as you are facing the vehicle from the front) of the left radiator tank.
Or, if you prefer, I have several in my garage; any one or more of which I am happy to send you if I have your address. I would also be interested in buying your DRL Module if you have no further use of it (assumimng it is not defective).
