Does anyone know how to disable the interior lights in a 2003 x. I already have a switch installed to the fuse panel but it also kills the radio and dash. We have two babies and travel alot a night and the lights wake them up. There has to be one trigger wire that I could tap. Does anyone have any ideas?
There are four leads to the under-dash computer (mounted behind the fuse panel) feeding from the LF door, the RF door, the pair of rear doors, and the liftgate. I installed a toggle switch in-line on each one because even though I used WD40 for a few months on the door switches, then replaced all six switches, the dadburn lights would still come on occasionally ... always when it's wet outside. Oddly enough, since I installed those toggle switches last summer, the lights have not made their annoyance known on my 2001 model ... not even once.
I used a factory wiring diagram (book, actually) purchased from helminc.com. Your '03 model may have a different wiring layout, more or less feeds from the door switches.

Not being an electrician, and knowing that I would screw it up, I haven't tried the in-line switch ...yet.
Instead, I toggled the two lights over the 2d row seats (where baby sleeps) to the "middle position". If you set the switch to the dead spot between always on and switched, they stay off all the time. Been like this for several months, and the little one sure enjoys sleeping through refuels, etc. The front cabin and cargo lights still come on, but not the two sunbeams she used to get, just soft ambient light from her perspective that she doesn't mind at all.
I must have taken the side cutters out in the driveway a hundred times, but just haven't been able to muster the courage...
