Started with passenger side window switch not operating the window last week, but it would operate from the driver's side. This week the driver's side switches will not operate either window. Also the door locks only work from the passenger side. Using a test light I have power to all switches. I am assuming I have a broken or loose ground somewhere. Took off the kick panel on driver's side but not sure which of the 2 blocks the harness connects to contains the ground wire. Anyone have a schematic or know which plug is probably the culprit. Thanks
There have been several discussions on the windows and locks. Try using the search option first. There is a basic diagram of the circuit in the Haynes Manual which you can get at some parts stores or used from ebay. Haynes is not great but it has better diagrams than Chilton's.
In the driver's door there is both a hot and ground provided to the switch. If I remember correctly there are two wires that go from the driver's door switch (pass window) over to the other door. Both will be ground when the switch is not pressed. When it is pressed then one is hot and the other ground depending on whether you press up or down.
There is already a hot wire going to the pass door. The switch there will use the hot wire and the two ground wires provided from the driver's door switch to operate the window.
I may make more sence when you see the wiring diagram. Again use the search. There is a lot of info already here including wire colors...

I had the same problem awhile back and it was the wires in the rubber boot ( when door is open it will be the only rubber boot you will see )that were sheared over time from opening and closing drivers door. I split the rubber boot with knife and added some extra length to the wires and since , never had a problem again. I hope this helps.
After reading this forum for about a week I finally found the "search" button. But this search: "no 3rd or 4th gear" came up with 96 threads, most of which have nothing to do with transmissions. Maybe I'm just stupid or something...
