I also bought my 36mm socket at Sears for $6.99. Also, drained the water/fuel separator this morning after letting the truck sit overnight (3/4 tank full) and followed the Tech Folder instructions. On a slight incline, hardly any fuel came out to fill my 2 liter. (Maybe 1/2 of 1 liter). Whole process took about 5 minutes. Had some minor debris, but nothing alarming.
Just a little FYI. I drain mine fairly frequently and during the last drain I stripped the head of the plug. It cost me 7.09 for a new one so I ordered 2 so I could keep a spare. Deac
...has anyone thought of machining an adapter and attaching a valve such as the Fomoto for easier drain service?
Many have thought of it, nobody has done it. It's pretty tricky, given the unique threads in the housing and the limited clearance against the driveshaft on 4x4 trucks. The 2005.5 trucks supposedly have a redesigned one with a lever and a drain pipe already built in - woohoo!! I plan to swap my complete HFCM out to get this feature once they're readily available as a spare part. (Too bad they didn't just make it so you could swap the little water chamber out, instead of the whole HFCM, how annoying.)
