this has probably been posted before, but not sure where to find it. i have a 03 ranger,4.0 fx4. new truck to me and we just recieved our first heavy wet slippery snowfall. when applying brakes and wheels slide, there is a terrible clacking and clunking. truck stays straight and it stops, but terrible noise. on dry pavement, brakes work just fine. is this a normal condition? or do i look into it. thanks.....bob
is the noise really loud?? or is it kind of quiet. cuz our explorer makes a noise when the abs is working, you cna hear it on gravel or snow usually. its almost like a grr noise
thanks for responding guys. did some more checking today, and found out that they are quite loud when activated. just was not sure about the metal sounding noise, but was told they will sound that way. a friend just bought a new 04 and his sounds the same thing right off the lot, so it sounds like a normal thing. again, thanks for the info.....bob
I have a 03 Fx4 Levell II, I have driven it in every weather condition you can think of, and I have not heard anything like the noises you are describing..
The only thing my Rear brakes do, is lock up if you hit them too hard when there is a lot of moisture around. Just like my 90 Ranger XLT did for twelve years.
