HI everyone i,m new here.
I have a 1997 Ranger XLT. My dome light stays on, so I hade to pull the fuse so as not to kill the battery. I don,t know if the problem is in the relay under the glove box or in the door switch. Does anyone know where the door switch is or how it works ? There is no plunger in the door jam. Any help is appreciated.
The dome light switch part of the the door lock located inside the rear of the door. It controls the dome light indirectly through the GEM module behind the radio (in the dash). You might get the door chime too sometimes.
The good news is a little WD40 or CRC or whatever in the door latch fixes you right up. Haven't had to redo for 40K miles so far.
I've been having this same problem with my '97 STX... I also get an intermittent "DOOR AJAR" light on the dash. I was hoping the WD-40 trick would take care of it.
