missing egr?
92 ranger 3.0L - Is there any chance this would not have an EGR? I thought I knew what an EGR looks like, I've got the Chilton book (with picture) sitting right here, and no EGR. There is a plate on the intake that looks original and factory installed where the picture shows it. Flat spot on the exhaust where the picture shows it, but no hole. HELP!!!:-X11

Hi, That is exactly what I hve found. I asked at FORD dealer and best he could saywas follow the vaccuum line back behind the distributor. Boy is tht a tight spot.so am awaiting furthur HELP:-X11

It never had a problem passing emissions. Now I wonder what is different on that engine design that it doesn't need one.
PS No lines from the back of the distributor are plugged or missing - it had to come from the factory that way.

It controls NOx by basic engine design the produce low NOx, and a catalytic converter to remove NOx from the exhaust.
If you are failing NOx, you are running too lean, have the spark advanced too much, or the catalyst isn't working.
