My 4.0 Ranger has been stalling when at idle . The EGR valve was rusted and had a small hole in it , I thought it was this giving me troubles . I replaced it . She still stalls at idle ( has plenty of power and runs fine . ) I just replaced the plugs and wires and filters . She still stalls at idle ....... She'll idle fine ( nice and smooth ) for a minute or two , than all of a sudden , the tach dips down and she stalls . I don't know if this is related , but after a long run on the highway , after I get off and I'm traveling some county roads , between 40 and 50 mph , right when the trans shifts , the whole truck will pulse or buck . Seems like some sort of trans problem . The check engine light comes on . Is there an inexpensive way I can read the check engine codes like on an EECIV . Where all you have to do is put a jumper across the 2 terminals and the check engine light will flash the codes ? If so , where is the terminal located where I do this ? I'm trying to avoid taking it to the dealer , as money is alittle tight right now !! Any help or information would be greatly appreciated .. Thanks .. Rick in PA
95 is around the OBDII years. If it has OBDII you will need to scan it. If you are not sure if it is OBDII, look for a plug within reach from the drivers seat. On fords they are usually below the dash, this connector will be in the shape of a pyramid.
