This code was brought up on a computer for my 96 Bronco II 2.9 Fuel injected. A friend of mine used his computer and this was brought up but we arent exactly sure why. The timing has not been messed with and the SPOUT is still in place. Any ideas on why?
Is it running OK? I assume you mean a 1986 2.9L. Do you have a timing light? First thing I would check is to see if the timing is advancing. That's the whole intention of the spout, when it's removed the timing doesn't advance so you can set it properly. I've never left the spout out on my Ranger, so I have no idea what it would do if it didn't advance the timing. I imagine it wouldn't have a whole lot of power.
Sorry, You are right, 1986. Lots going on today, mind slip. The only things that have been done to it is regular tune ups, alternator, trany filter, ignition switch module, and that is all I can remember. Nothing with ECU. It starts bad when its cold, I have another thread about it in this same section. My friend is going to come over and check the timing. I'm female. I can do some things but I dont have alot of the tools and know how. Thanks
Is that code 18 a KOER or CM code?
When your friend gets the timing checked, let us know what the timing looks like. Do both checks (base timing and timing advance) and be sure to remove the SPOUT connector for the base timing check. See ignition timing tests at www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html
