I have a 1988 F150 6 cyl 300. i have a fuel pump prob. it seems to be intermitent. i just changed the relay and the pump did have good pressure and no noises. then it stoped running. then started again now stopped again? has anyone had this problem? and if so what the heck is the prob and how can i fix it as it is really agravating. thank you
I had something similar to this happen to my 88 f250, I finally resolved the problem by simply changing the high pressure fuel pump mounted on the frame rail under the drivers seat. You might also want to check the fuel pressure regulator.

i just went through this with my 87 it turned out that the fuel pump in the rear tank was done and thats what was not letting my truck start for some reason the front and rear tanks are tied together
If that's supposed to mean Panzer Driver, cool name.
As for the fuel pump problem, I doubt replacing the pump will solve the problem, and it's expensive. I would check all the wiring for the fuel pump circuit. When it dies, check various places along the circuit until you find the break. My guess is a broken/corroded wire that occaisionally won't let the pump run.
im tellin you i replaced everything filter, relay, checked fuses but for some reason the rear pump being shot wouldnt let my truck start and now since i dropped the tank and disturbed the rust i got 2 holes in it
