82 e350 tranny

hi, my friend has a 1982 e350 with a 460 motor and a 3speed auto tranny. everything was fine but now his tranny won't shift into high gear. he said one day he exited the freeway and it wouldnt shift all the way up after that. then the next time he drove it, it wouldn't shift into D. any thougts?

Yeah, rebuild time. Luckily the C6 is one of the easiest and cheapest.

When was the last time he checked or changed the fluid? The torque of a 460 does take its toll of that tranny after awhile even if maintained well.
