I Have a 2002 f-150 4x4 xl sport with factory p255 70r owl tires... any ideas on what i will get for mileage (average driving) before i need new tires??
Probably about 40k. The factory supplied tires are OK but not the best. Go with high mileage tire that will get you about 50k or better when you change out. Your mileage will also depend on the type of road you drive on and your driving habits.
Hi, I have the same size tires on a 2003 4X4 SCAB. The OE Goodyears. Currently 19k on them. I have rotated them twice now. My guess from looking at the wear on them is 40k and they will be useless for winter use with perhaps 50k if one wants to take them to the limit.
For me with normal driving I actually got 48k on them over a six year period and I just had to replace because they were dry rotting but even with 48k I still had just a little less than half on the tread, rotated every 7k miles.
I just bought replacements for the original tires on my '97 with the 17" tires, off-road package. 78,000 miles, I was so pleased with the originals that I got exact replacements. I didn't even have to do them yet, they had dryrot and the sidewalls were crappy from curbs, etc. The kicker was a slow leak from one that I had plugged twice... got tired of airing it up.
just put new goodyear wranglers on my '03 fx4.....at 38k....still had tread on them but......with the winters in upstate new york....i'd rather be safe than be off the side of the road....waiting for the tow truck.....
01 f150 scab with 38k on the 17" oem goodyears. They are great in the snow, terrible in the rain and lousy on dry pavment. They have uneven tread and rattle my seat. I will go with the ProComp 31's when I can afford it.
