Outside Air Temp on 99 Expy

Just wondering if it is just mine or does anyone else's outside temp read -40 degrees. Not sure what the problem is. When I bought the truck, the owner told me that he wasn't sure why it was showing that temp. Hoping to fix it. Thanks in advance for any info.

Mine doesnt do that .. something is wrong .. possibly a disconnected temp sensor.

It's right above the radiator on the front side of the radiator wall under the plastic shroud.

It's got a two pin connector on it (if i remember correctly) and easy to get at when the top plastic shroud is removed.

I thought I read in another string that there is a way to reset those but I don't remeber what it was.

I looked for the connector at the right side of the radiator, but I don't know if the one I am looking at is the one or not.

The higher the circuit resistance the colder the readout reads in temp. So if you are getting -40 you have a wide open circuit, either in the sensor or the wiring.
